OJust a day’s drive away and the land and skies are already different. I crossed the river where my mother ice-skated when the Depression kept their family moving around the country. My granddad was an engineer who always had work, but it took them moving around. Nana baked and took in laundry. Parents and five kids — one more family surviving. Places hold memories… even when you haven’t been there before.
